Now news anchors to face off at Coast awards

Who is the hottest news anchor from the Coast? This question will be answered at this year's Coast Music Awards where a category for Best Television Anchor (Kiswahili) has been introduced.

Who is the hottest news anchor from the Coast? This question will be answered at this year's Coast Music Awards where a category for Best Television Anchor (Kiswahili) has been introduced.

KTN’s Lulu Hassan will battle it out against NTV’s Jamilla Mohamed and Mwanahamadi Hamisi of Citizen Television.

“We will also have the category for male anchors because they too enjoy a wide support here at the Coast,” Coast Awards CEO Julia Akinyi aka Beyonce said speaking to DRUM on phone from Mombasa.

According to Akinyi, the panel has also nominated a number of leading male news anchors amongst them Nimrod Taabu and Ali Manzu who are with NTV and KTN respectively.

The competition is set to take place in April although an exact date is yet to be set by organizers.

Last year, the event did not take place after Beyonce was hospitalized due to injuries sustained in a road accident.

Beyonce started the Coast Music Awards in 2007. The awards recognise the best musicians in various categories.

Akinyi will be in Nairobi in February to meet with potential sponsors who she says are willing to work with her company Beyonce Promotions to uplift artistes at the Coast.
